Katrin Karu (b.1975) is an Estonian painter known for her bold expression, vibrant colours and large-scale works. Moving between abstraction and recognisable forms, her paintings capture the emotional essence of the world rather than simply depicting it. Each work invites viewers to discover their own meanings and stories.
Katrin lives and works in Estonia. She graduated from Tallinn University, where she studied art, technical drawing and advertising.
Since 2012, she has held 16 solo exhibitions, with her work shown both in Estonia and internationally. Her paintings are permanently displayed at Hilton Tallinn Park and feature in private collections and interiors across Europe, Japan and the Middle East.
In 2018, she launched her fashion brand, Katrin Karu Off the Canvas.
Katrin is a mother of two and a founding member of the Estonian Women's Cognac Club.
